Binding offers

Reverb accepted offer not paid? Here's what happens, and the fix

You accepted the offer, marked the pedal sold, and then nothing. Here's what Reverb's own rules say happens next, and how FuzzSwap's planned binding offers make “accepted” mean “paid.”

Reverb's rules for unpaid accepted offers

From Reverb's help center, checked October 28, 2026:

What to do right now on Reverb

  1. Message the buyer through Reverb and ask whether they still intend to pay.
  2. If they need more time and you're willing, contact Reverb Support to extend the deadline.
  3. Otherwise cancel from your Orders page, or let the extended deadline pass so the item is relisted.

That can mean up to two days (or more) where your gear is tied up, and other interested buyers may have moved on.

How FuzzSwap's binding offers will work (planned for launch)

Binding offers · Step 1 of 4

1

Buyer makes an offer

Their card is held for the offer + shipping + tax. Nothing is charged yet.

Binding is a per-listing seller choice: keep offers off, use standard offers with your own pay window, or go binding. It uses ordinary card authorization (the same “hold” a hotel places), so it works with cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We don't make a cent from disputes, unpaid orders or penalty fees, so there are no penalty fees, only a clear record.

Unpaid offer FAQ

What happens on Reverb when an accepted offer isn't paid?

According to Reverb's help center, once an offer is accepted the buyer is asked to pay within 24 hours. If they need more time, the seller can contact Reverb Support to extend the deadline another 24 hours. If the buyer still doesn't pay, Reverb automatically cancels the order and relists the item.

Does a Reverb seller pay fees on an unpaid order?

Reverb's help center says seller fees are only assessed once a buyer actually pays for an item.

Is a buyer required to pay when a Reverb offer is accepted?

Reverb says yes: once an offer is accepted the listing is considered sold to that buyer, and buyers who repeatedly don't pay may be subject to account suspension.

What is a binding offer?

On FuzzSwap, a binding offer means the buyer's card is held when they make the offer and charged the moment the seller accepts. Sellers choose per listing whether offers are off, standard or binding.

Isn't holding a card risky for buyers?

A hold isn't a charge. If the seller declines or doesn't answer within the response window (max 72 hours), the hold is released. Buyers only pay when the seller accepts the exact amount they offered.

Sell where accepted means paid

The first 100 sellers start at the Trusted tier: a 4% platform fee instead of 5%, plus card processing at cost. Sellers who verify their Reverb shop and import their history start at 4% too. Buyers can join early access to hear when we open.
